It can be hard to commit: with so many choices at the grocery store. Do you put time and effort into a full on kitchen rondevous and scope the International Aisle? Check out the plethora of spicy ingredients? Become a hunter and find the perfectly matured fruit?Figure out which ones are fake or really organic? Maybe flirt with the Meat Guy and discuss how to serve the perfect sausage? Well, maybe your tired of playing games and just want to settle down.

If so, you can always have a shot gun wedding in aisle eight. Or, whatever is the pre-packaged aisle at your local Whole Foods. And just like Bethenny Frankel and Jason Hoppy, it is a marriage made in heaven for at least that night. To create the perfect Shot Gun Wedding...Italiano Style, here is what you will need:

Wedding Party List

  • Sliced Bread
  • Fresh Garlic
  • Oregano
  • Olive Oil (prefer California or Via Roma...but any will do.)
  • Whole Foods Mesclun Goat Cheese Salad (Family Style)
  • Whole Foods Balsamic Dressing
  • Whole Foods Italian Wedding Soup
  • Whole Foods Tomato Basil Pasta Bowl
  • Whole Foods Pesto Pasta Bowl
  • Whole Foods Bakery-Fresh Apple and Cherry Turnovers (or dessert of your choice).
After the ceremonial line up and check out at the register, it was a long car ride back to the reception. But...

Once we got home, we just tossed the lids like a garter...

Put the salad in a bowl and crumbled the Goat Cheese. Then things got hot and heavy on the Stove Top with the Italian Wedding Soup. It smelled delicious, and tickled my nose with what was to come. The meatballs were savory and greens sauteed to perfection. No need for spices...or throwing salt at this Wedding Party. It was exactly how I imagined it should be.

It was time to do the Electric Slide...from package to pan, heat up the Pesto Pasta and Tomato Basil. I sneaked a bite...the herbs tasted so fresh, it only seemed natural to let these noodles dance on my tongue as they were.

While the pasta and soup slowly heat up, lets break bread. All you need is some fresh bread (sliced sandwich is fine), fresh garlic clove, Oregano and Olive Oil. Now, place the garlic under a Chef's knife... it's time to get down.

Note: Please be careful, hold the sharp edge away from your body. And again, please be careful. I am not responsible for misconduct in the kitchen.

And, as Akon would say on the dance floor: Smack That! Oh yes...smack that Garlic. Now Chop.

Celebrate and grab yourself a shot glass, mix ingredients into olive oil and toast to a great marriage made in your kitchen. Literally!

After all the fun, it is time to plate and sit down. First the soup...

Next came the Pesto with Garlic Toast...

Then Tomato Basil... and don't forget the cheese.

There was no cake to cut, but we had Cherry and Apple Turnovers from Whole Foods Bakery...just briefly heat up in a toaster oven and serve.

It was time to devour the tender moments. With the clinging of our glasses, each bite became an Italian kiss. My Italian Shot Gun Wedding will always be a dinner made in heaven, it definitely deserves a marriage renewal. Salute!
